Are Oreo's as addictive as Cocaine?
I think that in response to cocaine people react more hostile after a while and will do anything for a fix. I also think that in response to oreos while the response might not be as hostile or having the subject in need of a fix such as cocaine might do, both of them release a whole lot of dopamine in the brain. Now there is a difference between just enjoying an oreo and being addicted to them. If someone just literally can’t go a day without eating an Oreo, then they are addicted to them versus just wanting to eat them because they like them. In the experiment, the rats really didn’t seem to be addicted to the Oreos. One researcher named Schroeder had this to say about the rice cakes and oreos, "Just like humans, rats don't seem to get much pleasure out of eating them,". Oh course everyone prefers health to gratification, but everyone eats junk food because you can moderate how much much of said food you can ingest. This means you won’t necessarily damage your health unless you are an uncontrollable eating force like the Cookie Monster or something of that nature. While the study doesn’t say if people can stop eating Oreos once they have started, I believe almost anyone will agree with me when I say anyone has the ability to.

You have very good grammar. I was a little confused by all of the text. Maybe try to put a heading for each of your topics and not one long paragraph.
ReplyDeleteThe part about the rats seeming to like them just as a human would really interested me. But like you said about the ability to stop, I think a good amount of the population could stop eating a cookie for awhile. Also as sna1999 said, I think you should add headings. It would be easier to read over all and the post would look much nicer.
ReplyDeleteI do not agree that Oreo s is as addictive as cocaine. I am never sitting there saying to myself "I really need a oreo." But i guess for some it can be. it is funny how they always test this stuff on rats.
