According to the author, there are 5 advantages to global warming. His reasons for each one differ, but they are: fewer winter deaths, lower energy costs, better agricultural yields, probably fewer droughts, and maybe richer biodiversity. He mainly hit on fewer winter deaths and better agricultural yields by pointing out lowering winter deaths in Great Britain, and how plants need more Carbon Dioxide than is currently in the air. According to the article the rising wealth will cause multiple nations to afford better food and have less famines. It is also saying that it will help people avoid starvation and be able to heat their homes more in the winter. He also touches on the fact of using it to help prevent natural disasters. We should care that global warming has increased global economic output by 1.4% because it leads to more wealth and less death rates in nations worldwide. Honestly I think it’s hard to weigh the costs versus the gain in global warming, but even the article admitted that this growing economy and whatnot will probably only last until the year 2080. The article states, “ The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, whose reports define the consensus, is sticking to older assumptions, however, which would mean net benefits till about 2080. Either way, it’s a long way off.”. I honestly think, in my own opinion , that the costs will outweigh the benefits in the long run. I think the article was right though when it says we spend too much money trying to reduce global warming. I think more money should go into educating people about global warming. This would help people maybe become consciously aware what is happening and that they can play a role in helping to fix it.
ARTICLE
Good job, I liked all the points that you used. Maybe try and format it a little better, like try to use multiple paragraphs instead of having one long paragraph.
